SimplePractice Note Taker

SimplePractice is a practice management and EHR platform for therapists and wellness practices. Note Taker is its optional AI add-on that transcribes telehealth and in-person sessions (or your dictation) and drafts a progress note in your chart for you to review and sign.

AI features

  • Records SimplePractice Telehealth sessions (up to 4 hours) or in-person sessions through the mobile app (up to 2.5 hours), then drafts a progress note
  • Dictation mode, so you can describe the session instead of recording it
  • Matches the format and style of your last progress note for that client
  • Works with couple and group appointments
  • Care Aide add-on bundles Note Taker with intake summaries, session prep, client summaries and a draft treatment planner

Pricing

Note Taker: $35/month per clinician after a 30-day free trial, on any plan (SimplePractice help center, checked Oct 22, 2026; the pricing page showed a limited-time discount). Care Aide, which includes Note Taker: $59/month for the account owner and $49/month per additional clinician. Base plans start at $49, $79 or $99/month.

Best for

Practices already on SimplePractice that want AI notes inside the chart without adding a second vendor.

Watch out for

Recording only works with SimplePractice's own telehealth, not Zoom or other platforms. Transcripts are kept up to 7 days or until the note is signed and locked; since June 17, 2026, new Note Taker users are opted in by default to SimplePractice keeping a de-identified copy of transcripts for product improvement, which you can turn off per clinician, client or session. SimplePractice says AI drafts can contain mistakes and requires you to review and edit before saving.
