The workflow: record one long piece (podcast, stream, or YouTube video) → clean it up in a transcript editor → have AI cut short clips → add captions and thumbnails → write captions and posts → disclose correctly.

Descript pays affiliates $25 per new subscriber (Descript). That doesn’t affect its rank. See our disclosure.

Step 1: Clean the master edit (Descript)

Import the long video. Descript transcribes it, so you can cut sections by deleting text. Run Remove Filler Words and Studio Sound (both on Hobbyist and above, per Descript’s pricing page). Export the long version for YouTube first.

Step 2: Let AI find the clips (OpusClip or Descript Create Clips)

Upload the master to OpusClip and set the clip length and timeframe. It adds captions and reframes to 9:16 automatically. The virality score and faster processing need paid plans (OpusClip). Review every clip yourself. AI picks moments, not context.

Step 3: Finish on your phone (CapCut)

Use CapCut for trending templates, text styles and final tweaks before posting to Reels, TikTok or Shorts.

Step 4: Thumbnails and carousels (Canva)

Turn the 3–5 best quotes into a carousel with Magic Design. Paid plans don’t count Standard AI tools against your allowance (Canva).

Step 5: Write captions and a newsletter with an assistant

Paste the transcript into your AI assistant and ask for one caption per clip, a YouTube description with chapters, and a short newsletter. Edit it so it sounds like you.

Step 6: Disclose properly (this is required)

  • Sponsorships: The FTC says to disclose any material connection to a brand (payment, free products, family or employment) clearly, inside the content itself. For video, put it in the video, not just the description (FTC Disclosures 101).
  • AI-made realistic content: YouTube requires disclosure when realistic content is meaningfully altered or synthetic, for example making a real person appear to say or do something they didn’t. Using AI only for scripts, captions or minor edits generally doesn’t require it (YouTube Help).
  • Voice clones: Only clone your own voice, or a voice you have permission to use.

Weekly cadence

  • Mon: record and do the master edit
  • Tue: clip and caption
  • Wed–Sun: post one clip a day, the carousel midweek, and the newsletter Friday
